And so, another year passes by at the speed of a blinking eye. 2014 was personally one of my hardest years but also one of tremendous growth. Professionally, 2014 brought great changes to S&C and I couldn’t be more proud of where the brand stands today. Here’s to letting the hardships of the previous year go with grace and looking forward with excitement to what 2015 has to offer. A year in review:

2014 began with me becoming a new homeowner – a truly momentous accomplishment if you know anything about Vancouver’s real estate market (guys, Vancouver is the second most expensive housing market IN THE WORLD. I know, we can’t believe it either…).

In February I headed to NYC to take part in a tradeshow. I can safely say that the connections I made here changed the game for S&C.

This year I took on the some of the biggest orders I’ve ever filled and this support allowed the brand to grow faster and further than I could have hoped.

In 2013 I barely travelled, so in 2014 I made sure to remedy that situation. I spent time in rain forests, on beaches, camping under starry skies, tucked in wooded cabins and driving along endless highways in the vast expanse of Los Angeles.

I also spent quite a bit of time in the city of Portland working with a factory. Moving away from crafting all of S&C’s product myself has meant that I am able to focus on the aspects of my business that truly inspire me (like textile dyeing for example). To have found a manufacturing partner that shares my beliefs in responsible production, local sourcing and livable wage labour has been the best gift of the past year. I am so proud of this professional step and am extremely excited to see how the partnership moves and shapes S&C in 2015 and beyond.

And then winter came. A time to reflect, bundle and make plans for a brand new year. As always my dedication is to live my best story and I want to thank all of you for coming along for that ride. Happy New Year!

It’s been a long time since my last ‘Around Here’ post – life has been a blur of holiday orders, gift shows and sparkly light magic :

1/2) I visited one of the prettiest pop-up shops in town.

3) Our Oaxaca Totes and Viaje Clutches sold out so fast we are working on more. The dyeing has begun and they will be available in January 2015.

4) On Saturday we were a part of a very cute holiday pop-up – if you are a last minute shopper we will be at one last market this Saturday (Dec 20th) before Christmas.

5) Finally got my tree decorated at home. Fist bumps for holiday cheer!

6) Sparkly lights everywhere these days. I love this time of year….

Happy Friday everyone! I’m celebrating the end of the week with a new phone. It feels like a huge luxury to no longer have a phone held together with stickers…

San Miguel de Allende is one of our favourite places in Mexico – and on this dreary winter Monday it seemed fitting to name our new tote bag after it as a reminder that life will exist again after the holiday hustle! This tote is a rich light tan suede with thick black leather handles – perfect for strolling through idyllic Mexican markets or fighting your way onto the rush hour subway. Available now in the online shop!

We started this company while scouting a new culture (Mexico) and cataloguing it for friends and family (on this blog) and so are very excited to now stock notebooks that allow you to scout and catalogue your own adventures. Made in the US from 100% recycled paper and sold in packs of three. Enjoy! xo

Our Tonala Pequena zip wallets have now been listed in the online shop! I’m so excited about these wallets as we updated the construction this season to create a larger, higher quality product. The marbled leather is now on both sides of the piece and the edges are treated with beeswax for a smooth finish. Each wallet is marbled by hand in our Vancouver studio and crafted in limited runs in Portland, OR. The leather will deepen in colour with time and wear making each one unique to it’s owner…
