FAQ:

Where are you located?
Our studio is located in Vancouver, Canada.

How did you get started with Scout & Catalogue?
While I was living in Mexico I began to dye fabric and experiment with hand crafting accessories – which inevitably led to starting S&C. Prior to living in Puerto Vallarta I was trained as a graphic designer and worked for years as a Creative Director in fashion.

Where does the name ‘Scout & Catalogue’ from?
While living in Mexico I started a blog so that friends and family could keep up to date with my adventure. I called the blog Scout & Catalogue because I was ‘scouting’ a new culture and ‘cataloguing’ it on the blog. When I started my line the name stuck.

I think you misspelled Catalogue.
In Canada catalogue is spelled with a ‘ue’ at the end :)

Do you do custom orders?
We currently do not take custom orders.

Where do you source your materials from?
Most of the materials we work with are sourced locally, within Canada. All of our dyed pieces are done, by hand, in our Vancouver studio.

Do you use vegan leather?
At this time we only use 100% genuine leather.

Can you put a strap on your clutches?
Unfortunately we do not put straps on our clutches.

I’m going to Mexico on vacation, what do you recommend?
Mexico is one of my favourite places – wherever you go will be great. Because I lived in the Puerto Vallarta area most of my tips fall within that region:

Around Puerto Vallarta:

  • Eat (and stay if you can) at the Hacienda San Angel.
  • Take a boat to Yelapa for the day.
  • Wander along the Malecon but don’t forget to pop into the massive fabric stores on Calle Jaurez.
  • If it’s whale watching season don’t miss it – rent a tour out of Punta de Mita.
  • Spend a few nights in Sayulita.
  • For a less touristy retreat spend a few nights in San Pancho.
  • Walk through the local cemetery (although only in the day).
  • Wander a little bit south and sunbathe on the beaches of Conchas Chinas.
  • Take a tour to San Sebastián del Oeste

Other places in Mexico I love:

Remember when visiting Mexico to always travel with good common sense and caution.
